Nauru introduces citizenship by investment program

Nauru launched the Nauru Economic and Climate Resilience Citizenship Program (NECRCP), a pioneering program that links economic development and climate resilience.

The programme was launched during the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP 29 in Baku where the NECRCP Act 2024 was also introduced.

Through this program, applicants will be able to acquire Nauruan citizenship in exchange for contributions made directly into Nauru’s Treasury Fund. Applications take about three to four months to process. Successful candidates will be visa-free travel to 89 countries including the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom, but not the European Union.

Funds will enhance the country’s resilience to climate change challenges.

Eligibility and Requirements:

There are certain criteria that an applicant to the citizenship program must satisfy:

Be at least 18 years old

Have a clean criminal record

Show evidence of where the money is coming from

Pass an interview (it’s obligatory)

Swear an Oath of Allegiance

Applications can also include dependents such as spouses, children under 30 and elderly parents.

Fees and Investment Details:

Contribution Requirements:

$ 105,000 for individual applicants

$ 110,000 for families of up to four

USD 110,000 for 4-person families USD 115,000 for families of five or more

USD 15,000 for every extra sibling of the applicant or spouse

Application Fees:

Application fees, which vary based on family size, are between USD 25,000 and USD 30,000

Du, due diligence fee: USD 10,000 for the main applicant and USD 7,500 for each dependent above 16

Passport fee: 500 USD per passport

The total investment for a single applicant will amount to USD 140,500, and for a family of four it will be USD 155,000.

Simultaneously, the Cyprus Citizenship by Investment (CBI) program emerged, providing high-net-worth individuals and their families with a private path to citizenship in a European Union (EU) member state.
